What Do You Really Know about Fluoride?

Let's get a bit technical...

The countdown has ended in our area. Fluoride has been added to our city water supply.

Fluoride is a word that has become so accepted in the mainstream. For over 60 years fluoride has been mentioned in the media, in commercials, newspapers, and magazines. It is in products in our stores and used in dentists' offices, etc. It has become a household word, so no one questions its use.

Everyone tells us that it is innocuous or harmless, and beneficial for teeth, so most people never question when this substance is put into the city water supplies in our country.
However, I  have a question for you:

What is the source of this substance that has been added to water supplies for
over a half century?  Do you know?

Quite simply, the source is the
Fertilizer-Phosphate Mining Industry.

This is what was said about it:
By recovering by-product fluorosilicic acid from fertilizer manufacturing, water and air pollution are minimized, and water authorities have a low-cost source of fluoride available to them. (Rebecca Hanmer, EPA, 1983)
Interesting...

Fluoride remains today as one of the largest environmental liabilities of the phosphate industry.
Much of the  hydrofluorosilicic acid used throughout North America originates from the state of Florida, while some is, also, imported from overseas such as China which has the most lax regulations and quality control. Ironically, China does not fluoridate their water. They export it to countries like the US. It is a phosphate fertilizer by-product that is is neither food grade or purified.

The story started early in the last century. In converting phosphate rock into soluble fertilizer, two very toxic fluoride gases were released-hydrogen fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride.

These known toxic by-products were once vented from giant chimneys and caused severe, devastating pollution into the air. This became an illegal practice for the manufacturers. It was found to be most harmful to the environment, causing numerous health complaints among the local population. Thousands of cattle suffered severe, crippling fluoride poisoning, and crops, as well as, entire citrus groves were often totally killed off or showed signs of poisoning.

To solve this "pollution problem" which was and would continue to be very costly in penalties, fines, and lawsuits if the practice continued, the phosphate industry installed “wet scrubbers” to those chimneys. These scrubbers trapped the fluoride gases to prevent the mass pollution and contain, or capture, the chemical by-products that formerly were generously spewed into the atmosphere, and into the air and water contaminating acres and acres of land and water ways.(Link)

According to estimates, fluorosilicic acid, some 200,000 tons of silicofluorides which is hydrofluorosilic acid and sodium silicofluoride, is sold to US municipalities every year for water fluoridation. (Copeland & Master 2001)

To dispose of this approximate 200,000 tons of hazardous waste material, it would cost approx. $7000.00 a ton. Instead, they choose to profit from this substance.

It is this leftover, collected substance, hydrofluorosilicic acid, that is put into storage tankers, or dried, then sold and shipped to municipal water departments across the country and used in their public water systems.

Are there other components in this fluoride substance added to your municipality water, as well? YES!  There is no special processing  by the companies to eliminate the other chemicals found naturally in this substance such as mercury, arsenic, lead, and more.

These chemicals/poisons/pollutants, all of which are illegal to put into the air or waterways of this country, are allowed into the municipal water supplies to be ingested internally and known to accumulate in the body.

As I mentioned before, what is added to our water supply is NOT your toothpaste fluoride-pharmaceutical grade sodium fluoride-found in oral hygiene products that people are accustomed to purchasing.

State Rep. Barbara Hull Richardson, D-Richmond said of the contaminants in hydrofluosilicic acid:

"To me this is a motherhood-and-apple-pie issue: You don’t want to introduce stuff into the drinking water that is very, very bad. I don’t think fluoridation is good, but at the very least we don’t want to introduce the arsenic and the lead and whatever other bad stuff there is in there."

As a mother and grandmother myself, I understand her concerns.
Daily fluoridated water is  consumed by individuals of all ages, from babies to the elderly with varied medical histories and lifestyles. The dose is the same for everyone irrespective of different needs and quantities ingested.

We have put this in an earlier post; however, it seems appropriate to re-enter it here:
"If this stuff gets out into the air, it’s a pollutant; if it gets into the river, it’s a pollutant; if it gets into the lake it’s a pollutant; but if it goes right into your drinking water system, it’s not a pollutant…
There’s got to be a better way to manage this stuff."

William Hirzy, Senior vice president of EPA’s Headquarters Union of Scientists and Professionals made in 2000

On June 29th, 2000, Dr. William Hirzy was invited to give testimony to the U.S. Senate
Committee on Environment and Public Works, Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, and
Water on behalf of the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) Chapter 280 –
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Headquarters.
At the time, Dr. Hirzy was serving his sixth term as the Senior Vice-President of the
Union. His presentation that day was, “Why EPA’s Union of Professionals Opposes
Fluoridation.”

This is a video that documents the presentation  along with interviews with
Dr. Hirzy where he describes the reasoning behind the professional and
official stance of his Union members in direct opposition to the
EPA’s administrative support of fluoridation.- Quote from the You Tube channel -

His report can be read HERE.

Please review our post of  the list of foods compiled by the FDA from
which we already receive enough fluoride in a daily diet, so much so,
that even the government agencies show concern.

Question to consider: When something foreign, a known bio-hazard
substance in an un-purified form, is added to city water with even
the slightest potential of delivering  lead, mercury, arsenic, and more
to our families-our children, why "mandate" its use?

Have a great day,
Donna

Additional Info:

The fluorosilicic acid is technical grade that is sold to municipalities to be

added to the water supply and not pharmaceutical grade as that which is added
to tooth paste.

Israel Bans the Use of Fluoridated Water!

Another country has banned fluoride. Israel had from July 29, 2013, one year to stop adding fluoride to it water supply. The time period has passed and fluoride is now officially banned.

Fluoride has been mandated to be added to the municipal water supply in Arkansas cities  even though the citizens of several of the cities voted against it in past years. Yet, other countries around the world, as well as, many US cities are removing it. Go figure!

Professor Arnon Afek, director-general at the Health Ministry, told the Jerusalem Post:
“Individuals have the right to decide if they want it [fluoride] or not… We cannot force people… The ministry supported it for over 40 years, but this is a new era.
The world has changed, and we can educate parents.”
There is a great deal of research that supports Professor Afek and the decision made by Israel. It is most frustrating for those who do not wish to have it added to their water.  However, those who do not want to drink it, or take a bath or shower in fluoridated water, don't have a choice if mandated.

In areas that are primarily retirement communities, the situation needs to be evaluated differently. There are scientific studies showing that adults can be affected by the addition to fluoride in the water in various negative ways.

A bit of info for you ladies: It is absorbed through the skin as you soak in the tub which you may not appreciate. Do a little research yourself on the effects of fluoridated water on the skin. It has been found to have an aging effect. It will probably be something you will not want nor will you want it in your children's bath water, either. Florists have not appreciated it for plants, either, when introduced into water systems.

If you wish to have special filters to remove the fluoride, they are available. Visit the page of this web site at the page button, Home Fluoride Removal, at the top of the page. There is some information on that page for you. Do call me if you have any questions.

Have a great day.

In health,
Stephen

Is Your City Getting Ready to Add Fluoride?

In this modern world of information and technology, a substance that has been shown to have affects on kidneys, thyroid, bones, etc., is still being added to municipal water supplies. Only 8 countries around the world fluoridate 50% of their water: United States, Australia, Colombia, Ireland, Malaysia, Israel, Singapore, and New Zealand.
England only fluoridates 10% of their water supply.

We have several videos by the esteemed Dr. Connett on this blog. He states:

"The sad irony here is that the FDA, which does not regulate fluoride in drinking water, does regulate toothpaste," Connett says, "and on the back of a tube of fluoridated toothpaste… it must state that "if your child swallows more than the recommended amount, contact a poison control center."
The amount that they're talking about, the recommended amount, which is a pea-sized amount, is equivalent to one glass of water.
The FDA is not putting a label on the tap saying don't drink more than one glass of water. If you do, contact a poison center. So you got this tweedledum and tweedledee…
There is no question that fluoride -- not an excessive amount -- can cause serious harm. There have been examples of children who swallowed the gel that is used for topical treatment and they died as a consequence. So fluoride is extremely toxic."
"We're not talking about killing people outright with drinking water," Connett says.
"What we're concerned about is the chronic exposure… It's poisonous."

You can watch his videos on this blog and determine for yourself whether or not there is at least a need to weigh both sides in this controversy. In areas where there is a large population of seniors and retirees, there is an even greater need to side with caution.

Thyroid problems and kidney failure are common among this demographic. It is vital to consider this risk when thinking about adding fluoride to city water. Adults drink far more water than children do. When we put this age group at a potential risk from a substance that is added to our water supplies, we must consider the consequences to a decision that will affect everyone-not just children. I have yet to find a study that shows how much plain water the average child drinks.

You just don't drink city water, you bathe in it. What you bathe in is absorbed through your skin. That will add to the burden on bodies exposed to fluoridated water. Will cities who are wanting to add fluoride plan on providing special water filtering systems for everyone with a health concern that may be affected by adding fluoride to their water? Since through bathing we absorb what is in our water through our skin, will those filtering systems be whole house systems? Are they adding that expense into the city budget?

Most everyone is making an effort to stay as young as possible with lotions, potions, and even surgeries. Yet, there are many books that point out how "aging" fluoridated water is to the body. If people were aware of that potential, perhaps more would at least look into this subject, and if impressed and compelled by what they've read, object!

I won't go on anymore at this time. But be aware of this:  Once added to the water system, it is that much more difficult to remove it.

Keep water as pristine as humanly possible wherever you live. You can't live without it. You are 70%+ water. It makes up every single cell in your body. Think about the additives already added. Do you really need one more?

If it is for the benefit of children as we are told, then does it make sense to make the whole population ingest it when there could be viable, potential health risks? It is so simple to give children, if their parents request it, inexpensive tablets. Or, they are able to get fluoridated bottled water from the store-nursery water. Parents would then know exactly how much fluoridated water their child drinks without question.

However, it is a known fact that there are so many foods and drinks containing fluoride which are ingested everyday that when combined in the natural course of day, exceed the daily quota for fluoride that experts say children should have. This is in addition to tooth paste which has a warning label on it as discussed by Dr. Connett above.

If this be the case, why add fluoride to a city's water supply that everyone-no matter what their age-will be forced to consume whether it be drinking water, making meals, or bathing and showering?

THINK ABOUT IT........

Has Fluoride Been Sufficiently Tested?

Has Fluoride been sufficiently tested? According to the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services in its Toxicological Profile on Fluoride (TP91/7-1993):

"Existing data indicate that subsets of the populations may be unusually sensitive to the toxic effects of fluoride and its compounds. These populations include the elderly, people with deficiencies of calcium, magnesium and/or vitamin C, and people with cardiovascular and kidney problems, pregnant women, fetuses, children. Postmenopausal women and elderly men in fluoridated communities may also be at risk of fractures."

Interesting isn't it? This is a substance that is mandated by legislative vote to be added to our public water supplies. A vast majority of people in some communities are now reaching Boomer status and/or are elderly. Fluoride added to the municipal water system may drastically affect this cross section of the population.  So many are on dialysis, as well. It's time to stop and rethink the act of mandating fluoridation.

Please see the first video on the page above entitled, "More Videos," for some interesting information regarding what has been posted.

Have a good day,

Stephen
